Looking for a Sponsor

To make this trip happen we are, apart from donations, also looking for a sponsor. A big global beer brewer would be the logical choice. Think for example about Carlsberg, Heineken, Budweiser or big brew houses like Inbev, Interbrew, Diageo,.......
But also other companies like bicycle brands or travel related companies could make for a good sponsor for our trip.
So if you happen to work in one of these companies or have any friends or relatives that work in any of them please let them know about us. And let us know about them.

For the purpose of finding a sponsor we have written a 'to-the-point-sponsor-brochure' which looks like this:

--------------------------------------------
The beerbike trip sponsor brochure

What: the idea
We will build a 12-person bicycle with a bar and draft beer installation in Kunming (China) which we will then cycle home, to Europe. This so-called 'beerbike' will be driven by three permanent people that will be accompanied by travelers and locals willing to travel by multi-person-bicycle behind a bar along the way. The bike will approximately look like the photos below:

Who: the people
The three people initiating this trip are Marc Frencken (Dutch), Oskar Klaren (Swedish) and Eoin Daffy (Irish). We all met in Kunming (China) where we have been living and studying Chinese for over 15 months now. This permanent team of three on board of the 'beerbike' will be supplemented with travelers and locals along the way, creating a highly social, dynamic and interactive way of traveling.

How: the approach
It is very simple: We will build a 'beerbike' in China and find a sponsor. With the financial help of a sponsor, whose name, logo and corporate colours will be fully incorporated in and on the bike, we will be able to make this trip happen.
Along the way we will interact with other travelers and locals that we meet. We will sleep in local people's houses, hostels and use www.couchsurfing.com to source accommodation locally. This local approach and high interactivity ensures that we won't pass any community unnoticed which is a guarantee for publicity. On top of that, among other things, we plan to sell beers (or give away in exchange for a donation) along the way, sell 'beerbike' merchandise, create a documentary about the trip and eventually even write a book about it.

Where & When: the route and timing
The trip will start in Kunming (China) and will first head east to Hong Kong, Shanghai and Beijing. From Beijing we will partly cycle and partly use the transsiberian express train to cover the 10000km to Moscow, Russia. From Moscow the last leg of the trip will consist of a tour through Europe of about 7500km ending in our home countries (Sweden, the Netherlands and Ireland) and all the countries in between (for maps see http://beerbiketrip.blogspot.com).
This trip will take about 8 months with a planned departure date from Kunming on February 2009.

Why we do this
We do this because the three of us have all lived in Kunming (China) for over 15 months now, studying Chinese, and we want to go home. We love traveling and started thinking about traveling back home overland. As Marc had been thinking about a trip with a bike like this for some two years now it seemed almost like a perfect match to go home by bike, by 'beerbike'.

Why sponsor us?
It is very simple: this is a unique, social, interactive, fun, inspirational, sporty and (as people keep on telling us) crazy trip that is going to generate a massive amount of publicity.
It is a trip with a bar on a bike. It is a global impact venture that appeals to anyone crazy about cycling, traveling, socializing, exploring, partying, adventure or simply enjoying a beer. It is one of a kind and THE way to generate publicity that sticks in people's mind.

What we offer
In exchange for financial support of this beerbiking trip we offer the following:
• Your name added to the trip name: The (yourname) beerbike trip
• Your brand, logo and company colours exclusively on the 'beerbike'
•Physical exposure of the bike during 8 months in 20 countries from China to Europe
•Global tv, radio and internet coverage about this 'beerbike' trip
•Your brand, logo and company colours exclusively on the official 'beerbike' website
•The potential to use the 'beerbike' for global promotion campaigns, corporate events, organize customer contests (e.g. where places on the bike can be won) and more
•Potential additional exposure through a 'beerbike' tv-documentary and a '' 'beerbike': from China to Europe" book to be written after completion of the trip
•Extreme word of mouth potential due to the social and interactive nature of the trip
•A core team of three people that all speak Chinese; A great plus for publicity in China.
